TripChat

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 01, 2026

This policy explains what information TripChat collects, what we do with it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain on purpose.

1. What we collect

  • Account information — your name, email address, and sign-in details (handled by our authentication provider, Clerk), plus profile details you add like your display name, photo, and languages.
  • Bookings — tours you book, dates, party size, extras, and amounts paid.
  • Wallet transactions — top-ups, holds, payments, refunds, and withdrawals, recorded in a permanent transaction ledger.
  • Messages — the chat messages you send and receive on the platform.
  • Call metadata — who called whom, when, and how long, for billing. Calls run on a third-party video service (Daily).
  • Reviews and content — reviews you write, photos and posts you publish, and store orders.
  • Usage and device data — pages visited and product events (analytics, with your consent) and technical error reports.

We do not store your card numbers — card payments are processed by Stripe, and crypto payments by NowPayments.

2. Why we collect it

  • To run the marketplace: accounts, bookings, payments, escrow, and payouts.
  • To keep the platform safe: fraud prevention, moderation, and the contact-masking rule that hides phone numbers, emails, and links in chat until a booking is confirmed.
  • To send you notifications about bookings, orders, and subscriptions.
  • To answer support requests, including refunds and disputes.
  • To understand how the product is used and fix problems.

3. Third parties that process your data

We use a small set of service providers to run TripChat:

  • Clerk — sign-in and account authentication.
  • Stripe — card payments for wallet top-ups.
  • NowPayments — cryptocurrency payments for wallet top-ups.
  • Stream — the chat infrastructure behind messages.
  • Daily — the video/audio infrastructure behind calls.
  • SendGrid — transactional email (booking and account notifications).
  • Sentry — error reporting, so we can fix crashes and bugs.
  • PostHog — product analytics, only after you consent.

Each provider processes data only as needed to deliver its service to us.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in (Clerk session). Analytics via PostHog is off by default and starts only when you opt in — you can change your choice in your account settings.

5. How long we keep data

We keep your account data while your account is active. Financial records — the wallet transaction ledger — are append-only by design and are kept as long as needed for accounting, dispute, and legal requirements, even if you close your account. Messages and other content are kept while your account exists unless you ask us to delete them.

6. Your rights

You can request a copy (export) of your data, or ask us to delete your account and personal data, at any time. Email support@tripchat.net from the address on your account and tell us what you need — we usually reply within one business day.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example under GDPR): access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object to certain processing. The same support email covers all of these.
